Exhibition Space

Upcoming exhibitions are listed under Studio.

The interior of the Church is approximately 14 x 8 metres with a new structure to provide for various facilities approximately 4 x 4 metres sitting inside the space. At the back of the church are studio/washup/ preparation areas, and in the front, is the hanging space.

There is approximately 24 square metres of wall hanging space with 12 linear metres of tracking for hanging. Artworks can be double hung because the wall height is 2 metres or more throughout the church. All of the wall areas can be lit by adjustable spotlights.

Examples of the ways in which the space is utilized from can be seen in photographs of the following exhibitions. Eco Prints, an exhibition of prints by Glenda Orr and Michael Schlitz, opened by Senator Bob Brown. Moods, an exhibition of paintings by Lysbeth Driessen, opened by Professor Noel Frankham, UTAS.

Events

The Church can be adapted for musical performances and meetings. An example of this can be seen with images of the performance by Minna Raskinen (photos) from Finland who played instruments which were variations of the traditional Kantele, a Finnish stringed instrument. This concert was organized in conjunction with Steve Gadd.

Acoustically the church is suited to playing and singing unaccompanied, and audiences between 20-30 can be accommodated comfortably.

Meetings and presentations may also be booked by arrangement.
